About me
Hi! Great seeing you here. This is where you get to know a bit more about my background and who I work with!
I'm Julian Calleja, specialising in utilising low-code tools, automation and AI to aid companies in building robust data products.
For the past 4.5 years, I have focused on a data product (GiG Data) for one of the world's leading iGaming platform providers (GiG). Throughout this period, I have held roles as a Data Engineer in Test and as a Senior Data Engineer, allowing me to cultivate a diverse skill set in building data products.
My aim is to infuse assurance and proficiency into your data workflow, enabling you to drive your Data Strategy, Objectives, and Data Discovery. I strive to achieve a harmonious equilibrium between significant data cycle transitions and the agility vital for the upcoming stages.

Career Highlights
- Led the creation of a high-performance, real-time data pipeline catering to GiG Data, orchestrating the seamless transmission of events across internal platforms (GiG Logic) and external partners (Symplify, FastTrack, Intellitics). This initiative created an innovative product utilised by 10 clients, empowering them to leverage real-time events for actionable insights and strategic decisions.
- Developed an advanced data migration framework to streamline the transition for potential clients moving to GiG. Successfully managed the migration of more than 20,000 customer records, encompassing critical details such as the latest customer information, balances, consents, and more, accomplishing the process within an impressive timeframe of less than 30 minutes.
- Designed and executed an affiliate enrichment data flow solution for a pivotal GiG client, enhancing their ability to efficiently track player acquisition channels. This strategic move significantly elevated their capacity to identify and capitalise on profitable player sources, ultimately strengthening their strategic marketing decisions.
- Led the creation of an ETL data pipeline that moved 6+ TB of data onto S3 which then was used to carry execute analytical queries on this data.

My Story
Early Years
I've been in the tech industry for a long time. My journey started in 2005, when my parents got me a computer. Back then there was no internet widely available and there wasn't much to do on the computer other than play games, and learn to code.
I was 7 years old and I fell in love with technology. That passion has persisted with me to this day.
At 12, I choose Computing as an O-Level subject which helped the passion to grow further. This helped fuel further my passion for building projects. Then at University I continued this passion and finished my B.Sc. in Software Development.
Early Career
During my time at university, I undertook internships in software development within the financial and iGaming sectors. In my initial internship, I concentrated on gathering business requirements, constructing workflows, and conducting research for a data migration project. Subsequently, at another internship in an iGaming company, I was involved in creating automated processes to proactively identify potential issues within the platform at an early stage.
Upon graduation, I joined GiG during an exciting period when a new data product, now known as GiG Data, was being developed to provide real-time data. For two years, I served as a Data Engineer in Test, engaging in diverse projects such as crafting a suite of tools to ensure data platform integrity, perform reconciliation checks, and assess usability. This experience afforded me a comprehensive view of the product from technical, product, and customer perspectives.
However, after 2.5 years focusing on tool development, I desired to shift my focus towards constructing data pipelines and products. This prompted my transition into the role of a Data Engineer within GiG. This allowed me to develop various products / tools for GiG such as GiG Broker CRM (a realtime CRM data feed) an acquisition channel data enrichment flow.
After 2.5 years as working as a Data Engineer I was promoted to a Senior Data Engineer within the team. In this position I was able to train members and even work on another larger scale data tool (a Data Migration Framework). This frame work enabled GiG to start target larger and established clients that already had a customer base therefore making sure that these clients had established revenues.
I was able to co-ordinate this project throughout the whole process from the initial phases of requirement gathering to development and delivery. This project was then referenced multiple times in GiG's quarterly earnings such as in the 2024 Q1 earnings call.
After 6 months then I decided to take the leap into the start-up scene. I joined a B2C company where they wanted to develop a new data warehouse. During my time there I was able to allow them to from their BI Manager not being able to query to query historical data as there were databases with 6+ TB to building a data pipeline that moved the data onto S3 and then being able to query the the whole data set in less than 20 minutes, which was a huge achievement.
During this time I was also working on a startup related to IOT where we were trying to build a SAAS platform where one can monitor their devices using open-source technology (infinimesh).
Today
Currently I am working within an iGaming startup where we are building various product with my current focus is on building a new data platform utilising open-source technology, with a strong focus on automation.
In my spare time I like to research read, research on data, automation and process development.
DM me if you think we could be a fit to work together, or send me a note if there’s any challenge which I can support you with.
